A celebrated actor of the stage and screen, the great James Earl Jones was born on January 17th, 1931. A distinguished thespian who has won a Tony and Golden Globe, he is respected and admired among his peers.
He has appeared in many films, with "Conan The Barbarian" being among one of my favorite performances of his. Aside from playing ancient tyrants he can also play comedy, appearing in such classics as "Coming To America." And he can also play warm characters like the ones played in "Field Of Dreams" and "The Sandlot."
However, he is best known, and will probably be forever known, as breathing life into one of the greatest cinematic villains of all time...the Sith Lord Darth Vader.
It was his commanding, booming voice that truly brought the character to life. The character is rich, and has always looked cool with his sleek black part mechanical suit. But as those fans of Star Wars know, the man in the suit was David Prowse, who certainly had the commanding presence. But the voice did not quite send fear into the hearts of moviegoers.
Jones' voice did. And the rest is history.
Many elements brought the original Star Wars film together to create a classic of cinematic imagination, and I truly believe James Earl Jones is essential to those elements.
So let's celebrate the grand and decorated career of the great James Earl Jones. And for us Star Wars fans...let us be thankful that Darth Vader was brought to life by one of the best known voices in show business. Happy birthday to the ICON himself!

Intentional Parallels? ("Conclave" Movie Review)
"Conclave" is a mystery thriller based on the 2016 Robert Harris book of the same name. Starring Ralph Fiennes, John Lithgow, Stanley Tucci, and Isabella Rossellini, the film focuses on the most powerful group of the Catholic Church cardinals as they mourn their recently deceased pope and prepare to vote for a new one. As they continue to vote and debate the merits of the nominees, many twists and turns present bumps in the road. And that last twist...well, it's a doozy. Being a registered independent, this film firmly leans in the progressive side of things, though corruption seeps into all sides. It is a fight for those in the middle to choose which way the church will continue into the future. Whether it should go back to reading Latin and become so conservative that they choose not to accept other religions or liberal points of view, or whether to continue to go in a more progressive way and deal with the world as it changes. As I watched this film I couldn't help...
He's such an inspirational actor.... I've seen James perform in many of his movies. Most notably, Star Wars, Exorcist II and Conan the Barbarian. I will look up all his movies on IMDB and see about collecting some movies of him on Amazon or something.... Happy Birthday!!! I'm gonna get my movie out of the Exorcist II and reminisce ❤️
